Where do these ideas come from?
This isn’t an exhaustive list, but here are a few areas that I’ve sourced ideas from.
- Tao/Dao
- Buddhism
- The Yogic Way
- ACT modality of therapy, particularly values
- DBT modality of therapy
- Internal Family Systems modality of therapy
- Power Threat Meaning Framework
- The Hearing Voices Movement
- Philosophy, particularly around happiness
- Decision theory
- https://voidgoddess.org (use critical thinking, both to understand and to figure out where some of this came from- I’ve seen copypasted articles from other sites with only minor tweaks and no sourcing)
- Insight meditation
- Mindfulness, particularly Thich Nhat Hanh’s “The Miracle of Mindfulness”
- “Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics” by Dan Harris
- Everhood
- Psychology research articles
- Meditations on Moloch
- https://www.lesswrong.com/ (again, critical thinking, but there are some very useful brain hacks in here)
- Shadow work
- Lots of personal experience.
Writing from other authors should always be cited with, at minimum, enough information to find the original source. I’d encourage taking a look at those sources if the snippets I save from them helped you! There’s likely something else in them that you could get use out of.
Where did (page) go?
I either moved it to another part of the site or took it down.
Any page on this site is subject to being moved without warning. I try to minimize moving pages, but the organization of this website is still evolving, and sometimes I have to move a lot of articles to improve the site as a whole.
If I take a page down, then it’s usually either lacking detailed information to where I can’t support it, or it’s somehow proven unreliable or questionable in content. Sometimes, a page gets taken down because it was merged with another page covering similar ideas.
Can I get an archive copy of (removed page)?
If I still have the file for it, then you absolutely can. Shoot me an email at owlsroost@riseup.net and I’ll see what I can do. If I don’t have the file, then I can probably point you at some sources for the information.
