Do something. Passivity feeds depression and activity fights it. Breaking out of the rut means trying something beyond the daily routine of drudgery you’re currently stuck in.

Anything that doesn’t outright harm you is fair game, but things that get you out of bed or out of the house are best if you can manage them. Making things is also particularly helpful; you have tangible proof of how you spent your time.

It might not be immediately rewarding, especially if you deal with emotional blunting. Do it anyway (especially if you used to enjoy doing it). It will help in the long run, and even in the short run, it’s better than doing nothing.
